Only when your pavers are sanded and sealed will they be able to maintain joint stability and prevent water from washing away the paver base, which in turn causes the pavers to sink.

If you do not have a sealant on the pavers they will absorb any the liquid that is spilled whether that be oil, soda, wine ect.

If you don’t have your pavers sealed you will lose color and integrity due to damaging UV rays from the sun that can cause permanent damage.

The paver sealing process typically takes 1 day depending on the size and location of the project. You’ll be able to walk on the pavers in as little as 2 hours after they have been sealed.

You can start moving any outdoor objects back and driving on them after 48 hours.

There are many factors that go into making them shiny but the short answer is yes. The two main sealers we use both add a sheen to the pavers but how much of a sheen depends on whether they have been sealed before, how dense your specific pavers are, and how old your pavers are.

We can however do a few things during the process to make them less shiny or more shiny depending on what you prefer.

Usually, you will need to reseal driveways or areas that are in the sun every 2-3 years and back patio areas that receive less sun will last about 3-5 years.

We recommend waiting a minimum of 3 months before having your new pavers sealed. This provides time for the minerals underneath the pavers a chance to come up and out so we don’t trap those inside the pavers after sealing them.

We can help! This is mostly caused by inexperienced contractors using the wrong sealer, causing a build-up of moisture between the paver and the sealer that was applied. No worries though, our team can take care of this!
